Sevan Gharibian

Born in Yerevan, Armenia, in 2000. Since 2020, he studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music’s Composition Chair with professor Fabián Panisello. In 2021 he was awarded the Diploma to the most outstanding student of his chair. He has been granted a scholarship by Fundación Albéniz and an accommodation scholarship by Helena Revoredo de Gut.

He finished his music studies at the State Conservatory in his hometown, where he enrolled in composition at the age of 16 and obtained a degree in music. His professional development has been guided by outstanding professors in Armenia where, in addition to developing his creativity in composition with Vartan Adjemian, he has practiced violin, played a wide repertoire of piano, and acquired skills in orchestral conducting. He has written works for several ensembles, some of which have been published. His “Lustre” piece for baritone and piano has received excellent reviews from musicologists and, after having been awarded first prize at the Renaissance International Competition-Festival, it was performed in another series of concerts. His “Cedars” string quartet was recorded as part of the 6th String Quartet Smackdown of Golden Hornet in Austin (United States). He is also winner of The Contemporary Piano International Composition Competition (2020), organised by AN ART ARTISTRY in Athens, for his “Three Færies” piece. Thanks to his Nazan-Nabiko work, he has also been awarded the Jury Award and the Audience Award at the 4th Choral Composition Competition, organised by the Armenian Little Singers (ALSCCC) international association (2021).

As a student of the School, he has attended masterclasses by Heinz Holliger and Tristan Murail, among others.
