Maria Auxiliadora Bozada Waflar

Born in Seville, Spain, in 2004. From 2020 and 2022 she studied at the Reina Sofía School of Music’s Aline Foriel-Destezet Cello Chair with professor Jens Peter Maintz.

She began her music studies by taking classes with Orna Carmel (Royal Symphony Orchestra of Seville), Israel Fausto Martínez (Professor at Seville’s Conservatory of Music), and then with María de Macedo (President of the Franz Schubert Foundation). In 2017 she obtained the highest qualifications in Musical Performance at Trinity College in London. She has also attended masterclasses by Marc Coppey, Heidi Litschauer, Asier Polo, María de Macedo, Jaap Ter Linden, Viguen Sarkissov, Alban Gerhardt, and Helena Poggio (string ensembles).

In Spain, she has been awarded first prizes at the Villa Ducal de Osuna Competition (2015 and 2016), the Visitación Magarzo Chamber Music Competition, the Julia Hierro Chamber Competition, and the Nerva Music Competition (2016). In 2017 she won first prize in her category at the 8th Jaime Dobato Benavente National Competition for Young Cello Players in Alcañiz.

She is cello soloist of the Seville Youth Baroque Orchestra and has participated as such in the Seville Ancient Music Festival (2018), the Segovia Music Festival (2018), Fundación Madariaga, and Young Musicians of Seville.

She regularly collaborates with Fundación Avanza, with whom she has produced two recordings.

As a student of the School, in 2021 she participated in the 30th anniversary tour of the School with the Freixenet Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Andrés Orozco-Estrada, with whom she performed at Madrid's Teatro Real, at Bratislava's Reduta Hall, at Budapest's Liszt Ferenc Academy and at Vienna's Musikverein. She has been a member of the Dvořák Quintet, the Ramales Quartet, and the BBDO Contrapunto Quartet.
