Keigo Suzuki

Born in Aichi, Japan, in 1995. From 2020 and 2022 he studied at the Reina Sofía School of Music’s Fundación BBVA Viola Chair with professor Nobuko Imai.

He studied at the Toho Gakuen School of Music (Japan) with Ryo Sasaki and, since 2016, at the Curtis Institute of Music (United States) with Roberto Díaz. He has attended masterclasses by Nobuko Imai, with whom he has performed in recital as member of Antoine Tamestit, Tabea Zimmermann, and Oliver Wille’s (string groups) Viola Quartet.

He has performed with several orchestras including the Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra as principal viola. From 2017 to 2019 he was part of the Symphony in C Orchestra. He also participated in a tour with the Curtis Symphony Orchestra and performed Bartók’s viola concerto with the Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra.

In 2014 he won the grand prize at the Mozart International Chamber Music Competition in Salzburg (Austria).

As a student of the School, he has performed with the Sinfonietta, conducted by Baldur Brönnimann and Johannes Kalitzke, and within the World Heritage Cities series in Santiago de Compostela and Baeza. In 2021 he participated in the 30th anniversary tour of the School with the Freixenet Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Andrés Orozco-Estrada, with whom he performed at Madrid's Teatro Real, at Bratislava's Reduta Hall, at Budapest's Liszt Ferenc Academy and at Vienna's Musikverein. He has been a member of the Prosegur Albéniz Quartet and Ensemble, with whom he was awarded the Mention to the most outstanding chamber group in the category of string quartets in 2021.
