Anna Tanaka

Born in Uji (Japan) in 1996. Since 2016, she studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music’s Telefónica Violin Chair with professor Zakhar Bron. She has been granted a scholarship by Fundación Albéniz and an instrument scholarship by Yuri Pochekin. In 2020 she was awarded the Diploma to the most outstanding student of her chair.

She started her music education at the age of five. From 2006 to 2015 she studied at the Special School of Music of Novosibirsk in Russia with professor Marina Kuzina. She has attended masterclasses by Miriam Fried, Natalia Prishepenko, Christoph Poppen and Mauricio Fuks. In 2011 she was awarded first prize at the International Competition in Yankelevich (Russia) and second prize at the International Violin Competition in Kloster Schöntal (Germany). In 2012 she was awarded the Great Prize at the Vladivostok International Music Competition (Russia) and in 2013 she won the second prize at the Louis Spohr International Young Violinists Competition (Germany). In 2014 and 2015 she participated in the TransSiberian Art Festival of Novosibirsk and in the Stars of the White Nights of St. Petersburg. In 2016 she toured Japan with the TransSiberian Art Festival, performing in the Suntory (Tokyo) and Kitara (Sapporo) halls. She has also performed with internationally renowned musicians, including Vadim Repin, Mischa Maisky, Akiko Suwanai, Alexander Kniazev, Maxim Rysanov, Mario Brunello, Andrey Gridchuk and Konstantin Lifshiz. As soloist, she has played with the symphony orchestras of Novosibirsk and Tomsk.
As a student of the School, she has been a member of the Freixenet Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Andrés Orozco-Estrada, Víctor Pablo Pérez, Jaime Martín, Antonio Ros-Marbà, András Schiff, Plácido Domingo and Péter Eötvös, and that of the Camerata under the baton of Anne-Sophie Mutter. She has also been part of the Enagás Schumann Ensemble and the Puertos del Estado Haendel Quartet. She is currently a member of the Stoneshield Quartet and the Mistral Trio.
